Condensation is a common issue faced in Singapore due to high levels of humidity, and the constant difference in the temperature between hot and cold surfaces.
Understanding Condensation
Condensation is the formation of water droplets on cold surfaces. It happens when water vapour in the air hits a critical dew point. Upon contact with a cold surface it loses energy and forms into water droplets. In essence, the water vapour in the air becomes water droplets on the surface.
Condensation in Singapore
Singapore is a very humid country, which means there is a lot of moisture in the air.
Due to the extensive use of air conditioning in Singapore buildings, there is a large number of walls that are very cold. When warm air comes into contact with cold walls or surfaces, water vapour in the air is easily converted into water droplets.
In Singapore, condensation issues are a common sight. Walls around air conditioner units, walls of cold rooms like server rooms or AHU rooms, external walls of emergency hospital rooms that require 24 hours AC operations and even in trains or buses.
If not addressed properly, condensation can lead to mould growth, water stains, and even safety hazards.

Thermal Jacket: Anti-Condensation Paint
The Nano-Star team developed and designed Thermal Jacket (TMJ) Anti-Condensation Paint to combat condensation issues in Singapore.
TMJ was formulated using a mix of science and nanotechnology, resulting in a product that is able to effectively cut down the temperature difference between the surface and the air.
TMJ mimics the cutting of the thermal bridge, ensuring that surfaces stay dry. It is a water-based paint which is suitable for use on cold room walls, ceilings, pipes and more!

TMJ has successfully been used to resolve condensation issues at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Village Hotel, Singapore Flyer and many more projects islandwide.
